Medieval Horses
Horses were an integral part of medieval life and there is plenty of evidence for their existence at Thrislington: archaeologists
found horse-shoes, grooming tools, a spur, horse harnesses and bridles. Many horse bones were also found during the excavation:
these were measured and analysed by a zooarchaeologist (an archaeological specialist in animal bones) who concluded that the
Thrislington stables held mostly lightweight riding horses and ponies.
From here you can learn return to the Thrislington manor,
or examine the spur found during excavations.
