Forcegarth Pastures: Lump of Iron

This lump of iron, roughly 5 x 5 cm, was found during the excavations at Forcegarth. There are a number of piles of iron suitable for smelting within 50 metres of the site, but we do not know whether these piles are contemporary with the settlement.

See examples of objects fashioned from iron lumps, or return to the reconstruction of blacksmith at work.
