Lead or Pewter Weight

The weight is a lead spindle whorl, which, being small and heavy, would have been used for spinning fine thread. It is some 4 cm in diameter and it would have been part of medieval lady's equipment at Thrislington.

Continue browsing through the archive, or see other items a lady would be carrying such as chatelaine or thimble.
