Copper Alloy Coin
A silver long cross penny from the time of Henry III.
This image shows both sides of the same coin: on the left is
the front of the coin, called the 'obverse' by numismatists (coin specialists) and 'heads' by the
rest of us. The right images shows its other side, the reverse ('tails'). The obverse usually had
the principal design.
The coin was roughly the size of today's two pence piece. Compare this to the jetton,
a type of monetary measure found on site.
