Cottage interior

The interior of this cottage has been reconstructed mainly using artefacts such as pottery, quernstones and even metal work that survive well on archaeological sites. Furniture and other wooden items often decompose leaving little trace, but sometimes fixtures and fittings such as nails and hinges can give archaeologists a clue as to the way a room was fitted out.

Move on through the cottage interior, explore the cottage table or return to reconstruction of cottage exterior.
