Manor Hall Window
This image shows a reconstruction of the a window in the manor hall. Notice how the stone arches are splayed (angled) on
the inside to allow more light into the building.
Windows like this frequently had carved tracery which held small panes of glass. In some instances, thin, flattened pieces of horn
were used instead of glass. Horn let in light and was less prone to breakage, but of course was not transparent.
Return to manor hall reconstruction or examine
the fragments of lead cames that would have held a glass pane in place.
