Turned Bowl

This "turned bowl" gets its simple decoration from having been thrown on a potter's wheel. It would have been made from local clay and is unglazed, meaning it would have been porous and not necessarily waterproof. It therefore was probably only used for storing dry goods. Such wares were often viewed as disposable items, and not re-used.
