Navigation in VRML models
Moving through a 3D space is similar to walking while looking through a video camera.
You move through VRML models in the first person.
You can move forward and back, turn and pan. In addition to these movements, VRML models usually provide a
number of viewpoints: pre-defined camera locations describing a position and orientation for viewing the scene.
Viewpoints are usually placed at the particularly interesting or well positioned places from which you may
want to see the model.
Because VRML browsers render three dimensional space, there are different types of movement
throughout the model. Sometimes called "navigation modes", these methods of movement usually simulating walking,
flying or simply rotating.
While most of the browsers have similar layout of the large model display area and a control console at the
bottom of the window, the exact names and configurations of navigation modes vary from browser to browser,
and we have separate guides for three of the most common browsers:
Blaxxun Contact,
Cortona and
Cosmo Player.
