Thrislington Manor

The manor house was the home of the lord and his family. We know that Roger of Thurstanton was the lord in 1208. Soon after this, the Thurstanton family changed its name to Fulthorp, after another village they owned, but they must have continued to spend time at Thrislington.

We know from the archaeological evidence that the first manor house at Thrislington was built in the 12th century. Two hundred years later this was demolished and a new manor house was built.

When the site was excavated in the 1970s, a building called 'Thrislington Hall' stood here. It is possible that Thrislington Hall was the second manor house, unrecognisable as a medieval building after 600 years of alterations.

From here you can see more images of the manor house, learn who would be living here, explore the virtual reality model or see a video clip of reconstructed exterior.
