Forcegarth Saddle Quern

Saddle querns were used for grinding wheat to make flour. This saddle quern was found in the wall of the separate hut.

This type of quern was out of date by the time they built this house and a new type of quern, called a rotary quern was being used.

See how would bread be made or return to the roundhouse interior reconstructions page.
