Old Rookhope Archive: Rookhope Yesterday

The majority of these photographs come from the archives at Beamish, the North of England Open Air Museum. They demonstrate the industrial processes that were happening in the valley and show life in Rookhope for the farmers, lead miners, other workers and their families.

It is interesting to compare views of the village with how the same sites look today, as many of the buildings and features are still recognisable.

You can go back to the archive index, browse the pages listed below or open a slide show in a pop-up window.
